Write about a genre of children's literature: traditional literature, fantasy/science fiction, historical fiction, contemporary realistic fiction, biography, informational, or poetry,
In addition to the elements in the general guidelines above, you paper should include:
A definition of your genre
A discussion of current trends in that genre of children's literature.
1. Include a succinct introduction to your topic.
2. Read three books published since 1990 by the author and/or illustrator, in the genre, or on the topic/issue chosen from the options below. Do not choose or use any books that you analyzed for earlier units. You may access children's literature online, but the content must be a e-book, pdf or video version of an actual published book, not a text-only document or a different edition or version.
3. Write original reviews of the books chosen. Discuss the book's appeal for its intended audience . Also, include brief quotations from published reviews for each book. Cite reviews from publications such as School Library Journal, BookLinks, Kirkus Reviews, Horn Book, Curriculum Connections, Mosaic, Publishers Weekly and Cooperative Children's Book Center. You can find reviews on publishers' websites, Amazon and bn.com. Do not use customer reviews!
4. Discuss specific ways that the books you reviewed can be used in the classroom.
