Students will write a 600-word essay (575 minimum; 625 maximum), that summarizes the article assigned. The essay must identify the author’s main argument; at least three key ideas used to support the author’s argument; and what the article contributes to our understanding of race and/or racism. Thesis: Your thesis should come near the end of your introductory paragraph and should be a direct response/answer to the question regarding the poems. 10 Epigraph: (a quotation just underneath the title of your paper): use a quotation from either one of the readings you have chosen or a secondary text that has relevance for the direction of your paper. 10 Organization: Your paper should be organized by the ideas raised by your thesis. Do not organize the paper by looking at one reading and then moving on to another reading in a series of discrete discussions. Use main points (topic sentences for your body paragraphs) that are aspects of your thesis and then use the readings to support your ideas. You will, inevitably, use one reading in several different parts of your paper. 20 Evidence: Use at least five brief (no more than four lines in length) quotations from the text. Use at least one from each of your sources. This is an absolute minimum. 20 Documentation: Quotations must be documented using an APA in-text citation. You will supply a page number (or numbers) in your Works Cited entry and in your text. 20 Sentence writing and mechanics: Use standard APA manuscript style format. Please take good care of your prose; make sure you have proofread and edited your paper before you submit it. 20 Total Points 100 SOURCE REQUIRED: https://remezcla.com/culture/afro-mexicans-legal-recognition-constitution-mexico/
