"The Mystery of the Animal Tracks" Story
If you prefer, you may write a one and a half or two-page story, typed and
double spaced, using 12-point font with either Times New Roman or Calibri
style font, in which you create a mystery using animal tracks. The story may
be entirely made up or based in fact. (You may even pretend you live
somewhere that is not where you actually live!) However, any use you make of
animal tracks must be based in fact. In other words, if you solve the
mystery using the type of tracks you've found; explain real "clues" which are
about what those tracks are like.
Some ideas: perhaps something from around your yard is missing, or
destroyed, and you need to "track down" the culprit. How would you do this,
using animal tracks? You will probably need to go online or to the library to
find out about particular animal tracks in order to do this. You may need to
find out what kinds of things different animals like to do, when they invade
humans' homes-again, this part should be based in fact.
The mystery may be simple--just trying to find out whose tracks are left
behind, where something mysterious has occurred-or it may be more
complicated than that, if you wish.
