1) For both recent fiscal years (2019 and 2018) calculate Your company’s ROE (Return on equity) and its three fundamental drivers: (i) ROE [= Net (after-tax) earnings / Shareholders’ equity]. (ii) Net profitability [= Net (after-tax) earnings / Sales revenues]. (iii) Asset turnover [= Sales revenues / Total assets]. (iv) Financial leverage [= Total assets / Shareholders’ equity]. Ratios (i) and (ii) are usually expressed as percentages, while ratios (iii) and (iv) are typically expressed as fractions. 2) On the basis of all four DuPont ratios computed in point (1) answer the following questions: (i) Did Your company’s ROE grow or fall between fiscal years 2019 and 2020? (ii) Was the observed change of Your company’s ROE (between fiscal years 2019 and 2020) attributable more to the operating factors (profitability and turnover) or to the financial leverage? (iii) Should the observed change in Your company’s ROE, combined with the changes of its three drivers, be treated as a positive (or negative) one?
